Bloomsburg Drops Twinbill in Baseball

BOX SCORE GAME ONE
BOX SCORE GAME TWO

BLOOMSBURG--The Bloomsburg University baseball team dropped a pair of games to Kutztown on Monday afternoon by scores of 8-6 and 10-0.

In game one, after the Golden Bears scored eight times in the top of the third, the Huskies responded with two of their own in the home half of the inning. Kevin Ward (Upper Darby/Msgn. Bonner) led off the inning with a single and later scored on an RBI single from Andy Bucher (Littlestown/Littlestown). Bloomsburg's Rob Watlock (Plains/Coughlin) then followed with a double scoring Bucher to make it 8-2.

The game remained 8-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh when Bloomsburg made the game interesting. Rich Letts (Parkesburg/Octorara) got hit to lead off the frame followed by a Josh Howe (Williamsport/Williamsport) single. Matt Robinson (York/Red Lion) and Bucher followed with singled scoring Letts and Howe to make it 8-4. After a pitching change for Kutztown, Watlock singled home Robinson with Chris Brown (Vestal, NY/Vestal) getting Bucher home on a sacrifice fly. Then, with the tying run at the plate, Kutztown induced a pop up to end the game.

Bucher and Watlock both had two hits and drove in two runs in the game.

In the nightcap, the Huskies managed just two hits and did not get a runner to third base. Kutztown only led 3-0 going into the top of the sixth, but plated seven runs over the final two innings to pull away and win easily. Nate Krantz led the Kutztown offense going 3-4 with two runs scored.

Bloomsburg is now 8-27, 3-9 in the PSAC East, while Kutztown is 27-9, 9-3 in the PSAC East. Bloomsburg plays at Shepherd on Tuesday starting at 1 p.m.
